The following notes describe one method of overcoming the initial problems, and allowing the users to run Uniplex correctly. SOLUTION@@ EEEEEEEE The configuration files for Uniplex version 6.10 are not shipped ready for 8-bit devices. Therefore, modifications are required to the device configuration files. For example: .JN .FN FX-NORMAL TERM=ansi ; export TERM unset TERMCAP TERMINFO=/usr/UAP/TERMINFO ; export TERMINFO .JY .FN PS-NORMAL File: UAP/terminfo@@ CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC In the file "terminfo", add the "km," entry to allow input of 8-bit characters from the keyboard. .JN .FN FX-NORMAL ansi, km, il1=\E[L, am, ed=\E[J, el=\E[K, clear=\E[2J\E[H, ....... .JY .FN PS-NORMAL And recompile the entry using : .JN .FN FX-NORMAL tic -v terminfo .JY .FN PS-NORMAL File: UAP/Tcap@@ CCCCCCCCCCCCCC In the file "Tcap", add the "HIGHBIT" entry to indicate that the terminal supports direct 8-bit output. .JN .FN FX-NORMAL #ansi HIGHBIT A=$-'[1m',$-'[m' C=$-'[4m',$-'[m' .... .JY .FN PS-NORMAL .PA recompile the terminal entries using the command : .JN .FN FX-NORMAL syscomp -v .JY .FN PS-NORMAL Further changes@@ EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE The SCO "mapchan" utility provides screen mapping for the European, and X-Open characters. However, when running Uniplex, the MAP statements in the file "UAP/Tcap" will take precedence. It is possible however, to remove the MAP statements from "Tcap" to allow the display of characters to be performed by "mapchan".
