This chart shows the status of Uniplex
Business Software and Universal Mail Server V9.10 platforms and
languages, current and planned. Complete details of each port are
provided in the Release Note Supplement appendices to the
UBS V9.10 Installation Guide (see Appendices F-V).
By default, Uniplex Software is supplied
on CD media. Tape media is also available, specify one of QIC
(Quarter Inch Tape cartridges), 8mm Exabyte or 4mm DAT tapes if
your system does not have access to a CDROM device.
Contact Sales - Uniplex has no plans
to port to these platforms but does have the capability. Speak
to your local Uniplex
Sales office and ask them about special porting needs.
Obsolete - Obsolete Platforms. Systems
that were ported to in previous releases but which, due to insufficient
demand, are not scheduled to be ported and have been discontinued.
If you need Uniplex V9.10 for one of these platforms, please contact
your local Uniplex Sales Office.
Bull DPX/20, Escala/Estrella. The Bull
DPS/20, Escala, and Estrella servers and workstations are PowerPC-based
systems that run AIX and are fully compatible with the IBM RS/6000.
See the listing for the IBM RS/6000 for a suitable UBS port.
Cetia PowerEngine. Cetia (France) sells
a variety of board-level and systems products based on the PowerPC
processor running AIX under the PowerEngine name. All of these
products are fully compatible with the IBM RS/6000. See the
listing for the IBM RS/6000 for a suitable UBS port.
Data General AViiON. There are two series
of Data General AViiON systems and they are incompatible with
each other. The older models of the AViiON use the Motorola
88000 series of RISC processors while the newer AViiONs use
Intel processors.
Hitachi SR4300. The Hitachi Data Systems
SR4300 Scalable RISC Complex is a PowerPC-based system that
runs AIX and is fully compatible with the IBM RS/6000. Hitachi
also sells the Bull Escala and Estrella servers and workstations
which are also PowerPC-based systems that run AIX and are fully
compatible with the IBM RS/6000. See the listing for the IBM
RS/6000 for a suitable UBS port.
Linux. Uniplex supports the Linux 2.2
kernel. Uniplex was ported to Red Hat Linux 6.0 using the libc6
C library and kernel 2.2.5-13. It has been fully tested for
operation under Caldera OpenLinux 1.3, Red Hat Linux 6.2, 7.0
and S.u.S.E. Linux 5.2. It should run with other Linux versions
as long as they include at least the libc6 C library and a 2.2
series kernel. We have not tested Uniplex with older kernel
and C library versions. Uniplex will not run with C libraries
prior to libc6.
Motorola PowerPC. The Motorola Computer
Group sells a variety of board-level and systems products based
on the PowerPC processor running AIX. All of these products
are fully compatible with the IBM RS/6000. See the listing for
the IBM RS/6000 for a suitable UBS port.
Siemens Nixdorf RM400. Siemens has referred
to the newer versions of the operating system for this machine
as both Sinix and as Reliant Unix. The terms are interchangeable
and Uniplex runs in both environments (i.e., Reliant
Unix 5.43, Reliant Unix 5.44, Sinix 5.43, and Sinix 5.44).
Unisys Aquanta. The new Unisys Aquanta
servers are Intel-based systems that run SCO UnixWare. See the
listing for SCO UnixWare for a suitable UBS port.
Unisys U6000/1x-6x. Unisys
has flatly refused to provide Uniplex with either a current
copy of the operating system and/or a porting machine as they
want all U6000 customers to move to their new Aquanta (Intel/UnixWare-based)
systems. However, Uniplex has verified its SCO OpenServer port
on the U6000 platforms except for a problem with large databases.
The problem is resolved by combining the special Informix-SE
version for the U6000 with the UBS SCO OpenServer port. This
combination is now available as a standard product from Uniplex
as shown on the Availability List above.
Unisys U6000/7x-8x. The
Unisys U6000/7x and U6000/8x systems are Sequent
machines running DYNIX/ptx that were sold under the Unisys label.
See the listing for Sequent for a suitable UBS port.
